Competitive MAC Protocol for Azimuth Routing

چکیده
This document contains a report of our recent work in the area of transmission protocols for large-scale wireless sensor networks. We analyse a sensor network where the nodes do not have any knowledge about the network topology. The nodes are only aware of their own positions and the position of the nearest sink. We propose a MAC protocol that enables each transmitting node to choose its best neighbour to forward a data packet. All the neighbours are competing to become the forwarder using an adaptive time division multiple access scheme. The proposed MAC protocol guarantees that the best neighbour is chosen. The MAC protocol is designed to cooperate with the azimuth routing mechanism, presented during previous COST 2100 meeting in Braunschweig. Computer simulations are also reported that validate the protocol performance and allow choosing the optimal length of the MAC protocol frame.

Cross-Layer Protocol Combining Tree Routing and TDMA Slotting in Wireless Sensor Networks
Being different from other networks, the load and direction of data traffic for wireless sensor networks are rather predictable. The relationships between nodes are cooperative rather than competitive. These features allow the design approach of a protocol stack to be able to use the cross-layer interactive way instead of a hierarchical structure. The proposed cross-layer protocol CLWSN optimiz...
متن کاملA QoS Ad Hoc On Demand Multi-path Distance Vector Routing Protocol (QAOMDV) over a Distributed TDMA MAC Protocol for Ad Hoc Networks
This paper focuses on the problem of QoS multi-path in wireless ad hoc networks. An integration of a novel multi-path routing protocol and a distributed Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) MAC protocol is proposed. The MAC considered is called Evolutionary TDMA (E-TDMA) and the analysed multi-path routing protocol is the Ad Hoc On Demand multi-path Distance Vector (AOMDV) protocol. The integra...
متن کاملGame Theory based Energy Efficient Hybrid MAC Protocol for Lifetime Enhancement of Wireless Sensor Network
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) comprising of tiny, power-constrained nodes are getting very popular due to their potential uses in wide applications like monitoring of environmental conditions, various military and civilian applications. The critical issue in the node is energy consumption since it is operated using battery, therefore its lifetime should be maximized for effective utilization ...
متن کاملA Novel Cross-layer Node-Disjoint Multipath Routing Protocol for Ad Hoc Networks
Finding multipath routes for Ad Hoc networks is a challenging task due to mobility of nodes. In this paper, we propose a cross-layer node disjoint multipath routing protocol AODV-MCPI. This routing protocol works in conjunction with MAC-CPI protocol at MAC layer. The protocol at MAC layer ensures that there are no collisions due to interference as every node ensures a minimum of ‘safe-distance’...
متن کاملARROW: Azimuth-Range ROuting for large-scale Wireless sensor networks
During the past few years, the development of wireless sensor network technologies has spurred the design of novel protocol paradigms capable of meeting the needs of a wide broad of applications while taking into account the inherent constraints of the underlying network technologies, e.g. limited energy and computational capacities. Geographic routing is one of such paradigms whose principles ...
